A cheaper material to work with than oak, yet much classier than pine, it’s no surprise that mahogany is for many the wood species of choice for their desk. It has a very smooth and straight grain and tends to lack structural irregularities. But its appearance is the most notable thing about mahogany, a uniquely warm reddish hue.
